Refractive Eye Surgery Options
Dr. Johnson can I get that “refractive surgery?”
Sure if it is in the best interest of your eye health. Certain vision prescriptions are not suitable for surgery. The best way to determine this is to get your eyes examined. I do pre op and post op workups for patients for refractive surgery. The front of your eye has to be a certain thickness to do the surgery. Your tear film has to be measured to see if your eyes are too watery or too dry. Your pupil size has to be measured so you don’t see haloes from the residual scar.
Dr. Johnson do you do the “refractive surgery?”
No I treat certain eye diseases but I do not perform refractive surgery. I am glad to do the workup to see if you are a good candidate for the surgery and to see if you are at greater or lesser risk if the procedure is done. If everything looks healthy then I would help you pick an appropriate surgeon that I think has a good track record and is ethical. I would see you before and after the surgery.
Dr. Johnson is there something on the internet that I can look up to get some other opinions on the refractive surgery?
Yes, there is a site called www.surgicaleyes.org. It gives you the opportunity to chat with other people who have had the procedure and what their opinions are.
